State Technical College // Utility Technician Center

The Utility Technician Center (UTC) project at the State Technical College of Missouri has resulted in a one-of-a-kind facility for electrical distribution system education in the country. Electrical Distribution, Utility Technician, and Nuclear Technology instruction will take place here. The facility will allow instructors to teach lineman education in various settings from classroom and lab settings, to indoor and outdoor pole-setting areas, and a simulated residential neighborhood. The facility will provide weather-controlled areas to operate heavy machinery and equipment as well as classroom instruction space. Bringing this specialized vision to reality is challenging and exciting. Additionally, this structurally unique building has a 20,000 square foot indoor dirt floor lab which allows students to drill and set poles indoors and practice boring activities under the building.
