What is your local 417-land charity of choice, and why is it important to you?
Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Missouri Chapter. This organization is important to me because I have a close family member who suffers from dementia. It’s hard to see how the disease affects not only the person suffering, but also their loved ones. The Alzheimer’s Association has been a great resource during these difficult times.
Do you volunteer, or are you involved in any philanthropic or community organizations? If so, what are they, and what do you do?
I am fortunate that the company I work for is very active in the community. As a team we annually participate in the United Way Day of Caring and volunteered together for Convoy of Hope during Hurricane Harvey. Last year each employee was given a certain amount of funds to donate to their charity/charities of choice during Give Ozarks day — how awesome is that!
What do you think makes a woman beautiful?
Genuineness. A women being confident in who she is is beautiful.
What has been your proudest moment? Or, what are you most proud of?
Earning a bachelor’s degree and working towards my NCIDQ Certification.
What was one particularly defining moment in your life? A life-changing moment.
Finding out a grandparent has dementia. It made me realize life is precious and we shouldn’t take time spent with others for granted.
When you were a child, who did you think was the most beautiful woman? Why?
My great grandmother Maibes. She was always smiling and had a way with people that made everyone feel welcome. She also lived life with passion and wasn’t afraid to try new things, like getting her pilot license in her 50’s and motorcycle license in her 60’s.
What advice would you give to a young girl about being beautiful?
Being beautiful is embracing who you are. Don’t let society or others dictate what you think about yourself.
What’s something that might surprise us about you, or a story you love to tell?
I have three tattoos and 8 piercings.
What is your biggest source of inspiration?
Nature. Being exposed to the elements is not only inspiring but helps me find peace.
Where do you find beauty in 417-land?
The amazing outdoors! I have recently starting biking and love to explore the outdoors that way.
What do you think is the biggest issue or challenge 417-land is facing right now, and how would you tackle it?
A lot of the skilled tradesmen are retiring and aren’t being replaced by the younger generation. Continuing to spread awareness about organizations like ACE and Build My Future as well as training that local colleges like OTC offer.
Fill in the blank: Friends would describe you as “The Responsible One.”
